Grizzlies Lose Season Finale / JV Travels to Carondelet

The Grizzlies dropped the final game of the regular season on Friday at Cal, losing to the Carondelet Cougars, 9-2.  During pre-game ceremonies, Cal honored five graduating seniors in a bittersweet Senior Day ceremony full of emotion for the home team.  Seniors #5 Amanda Dilsaver (DP), #10 Jayda Crosby (SS), #14 Jordyn Crosby (MGR), #17 Hailey King (CF), and #25 Reese Stiner (1B) were recognized, as were Carondelet’s seven members of the Class of ‘25.  It was a celebration of all their accomplishments, and a fitting way to honor them and their families.

Suddenly the mood changed after the game started, as it quickly became evident that the Cougars had come ready to avenge the loss they suffered to the Grizzlies on April 1.  After the Grizzlies left the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning, the Cougars struck, taking a 3-0 lead before the Grizzlies could muster their first run in the bottom of the third.  Neither team scored in the fourth inning, and then the Cougars’ offense exploded, plating six runs in the fifth.  Despite three more chances to get their offense going in the bottom of the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, the Grizzlies could only muster one more run.  Over the course of the game, the Grizzlies high-powered offense was held to just four hits, three of them by Crosby.  

With the win, the Cougars earn the top spot in the EBAL Mountain Division, and will host Livermore, the Valley Division #2 seed, in next week’s EBAL playoffs.  The Grizzlies, who fall to the #2 seed in the Mountain Division with today’s loss, will travel to Pleasanton to play Foothill, the Valley Division #1 seed. Both games will be played on Tuesday, with the winners facing one another on Thursday to determine the EBAL Champion.

JV Travels to Carondelet

Today, JV travels to Carondelet for their final game of the season, played at the Carondelet Athletic Complex. This is a turf field, so no metal cleats are allowed. Players should wear turf shoes or appropriate athletic shoes. Game time is 4:00pm and early release will be 1:30pm.
